Tennis & Sport Courts

Bring your A-game to the court.

At Sessions Paving Company, we're all about building sport courts that are as tough as you are. From basketball to pickleball and tennis, we'll help you design and build a court that's ready to take your game to the next level.  When it comes to creating a sport court that stands the test of time, the paving process involves careful planning and precise execution to ensure a premier surface.

Solid Groundwork.

We begin by thoroughly excavating the area and ensuring that the soil or preexisting base is solid, level, and functional. For new courts, we add a layer of crushed stone and compact it to create a stable base. For existing courts, we may place extra durable fabric over cracks, patch any failed areas, or place a scratch coat of mix to ensure positive drainage.

Surface Preparation.

Once the base is ready, we add a layer of asphalt to create the surface of the court, often using our expert precision to pave around existing fences or posts. Work is done throughout the process to ensure proper drainage without sacrificing playability. The surface is then coated with a layer of acrylic color. During this step, we carefully measure and mark the court to ensure that it is the correct size and shape.

Finishing Touches.

To finish, we install nets and any accessories, such as additional fencing, signage, or lighting. We take extra care to ensure that everything is installed to the highest standards and that the court is ready for play. Following completion, we stay responsive to requests for maintenance or provide our expert advice, ensuring that your courts last as long as possible.

Ultimately, the process of paving a tennis court requires expert attention to detail and a skilled team of workers to ensure that the court is safe, stable, and regulation compliant. At Sessions, we understand the importance of a well-built court and are committed to providing our clients with the highest quality installations. If you’re looking for a top-notch court that’s built to withstand even the toughest of play, look no further.

Project Examples

McFerrin Park

At McFerrin Park in Nashville, Sessions revitalized the existing tennis courts by patching, filling cracks, utilizing fabric, leveling, and recoloring. First, we created an access path for equipment to be able to access the site without causing tracking of mud. We then repaired the cracks, patched a failed section, overlayed the court with a glas-grid fabric to prevent the cracks from reflecting through, placed a leveling course of asphalt to correct the drainage, and placed the asphalt surface.

During the 30-day cure period for the asphalt before the two layers of surfacer and two layers of color, we repaired the fence. We then placed the color & lines then set the posts and nets before removing the access path and repairing the site with processed topsoil, seed, and straw.

Madison Park

At Madison Park, located at the Madison Community Center in Middle Tennessee, we refurbished two of their four tennis courts while turning the remaining two courts into basketball courts to accommodate the growing demand at the park. The colors on the courts were chosen for a classic tennis court feel while giving the basketball court an orange accent to give a nod to the local high school and allow the courts to effortlessly integrate themselves into the community.

Fairview High Sport Courts

At Fairview High School, we undertook the revitalization of their two existing sport courts. For the one in good condition, we focused on recoloring the court to breathe new life into its appearance. By applying durable, high-quality coatings from Laykold, we not only gave the court a fresh and vibrant look but also protected it from the elements, extending its lifespan and ensuring years of playability.

The other court’s condition required resurfacing the asphalt. We began by filling the cracks in the old court. With precision and expertise, we then laid down a leveling course of asphalt to allow the proper 1% drainage across the court. We then placed a brand-new asphalt surface, leveled and smoothed to perfection. This then was topped with Laykold surfacer and color to match the nearby courts.

Our work didn't stop there. We then raised the gates of the fences to allow them to maintain their functionality without scratching the new courts.

The result? Two top-of-the-line tennis courts ready to host competitive matches and recreational play for years to come.
